Pucón
How it works
How Pucón Levels works
Pucón Levels shows live river flow for kayakers around Pucón and Curarrehue, Chile. It is a prototype sibling of Futaleufú Levels.
Where the numbers come from
- Trancura: DGA station 09414001-3 (Trancura antes Llafenco), live. Curarrehue 09412001-2 and Quelhue 09418001-5 are shown as extra gauges.
- Liucura: DGA station 09416001-4 (Liucura en Liucura), live.
- Maichín: DGA station 09411001-7 (Maichín en Puente Quiñenahuin), live. Main Trancura tributary.
- Palguín: no gauge exists. The number is an estimate by gauge balance: R = Llafenco − Curarrehue − Maichín (upstream gauges lagged 6 h, 3-hour mean) is what enters between those gauges; the Palguín gets its area share, 134.1 ÷ 732.5 km² = 18.3 % of R. If R is missing or implausible it falls back to ≈9.7 % of Llafenco (area ratio). It can be off by 30 % or more.
- Puesco: no flow gauge. Shows the Curarrehue gauge as a proxy (a different, bigger river reach).
- Nevados: no gauge. Shows the Liucura gauge as a proxy (it is downstream of the Nevados).
Other nearby DGA gauges (Carhuello, Ojos del Caburgua, Estero La Cascada) are listed under Advanced for context only.
Flows are DGA real-time provisional data read directly from the DGA public real-time map every 30 minutes. When DGA's flow request fails, flow is estimated from the live water level and tagged EST.
